In the Phoenix Ballroom at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel in Flushing, NY, the registration for Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant 2014 is officially declared open. Past winners of the pageant, as such Miss Maggie Zhang, winner of 2013, arrived in full regalia, to show their support, posing for photos by a sleek ice-sculpture that hinted at this year’s theme; an extreme counterpart to last year’s theme of fiery passion, 2014 will explore feminine sophistication and sensuality, as mysterious and intriguing as an iceberg.

This year’s pageant promises to delve deeper into the iceberg than before, promoting Chinese synergy, giving back to the community and cultural exchanges between East and West. The pageant unveiled its new partner to include the Empire State Development/ILOVENY. Gavin Landry, Executive Director of the Empire State Development Division of Tourism, said, ‘New York State is pleased to support the next Miss NY Chinese as the ambassador for the largest Chinese community in the U.S.”

Miss New York Chinese Pageant will provide comprehensive image, makeup and stage performance training, as well as the privilege to participate in goodwill activities. The chosen 14 finalists will attend the New York Film Academy, under scholarship, in the acting program. In addition, there will be opportunities to be in films and TV series produced by Hai Run Media Group, one of the most prestigious media companies in China.

Danni Wang, actress and 1st runner up 2011, had joined the pageant to connect culturally with her roots, and found its process to be a journey of self-discovery, which had caused her to flourish on personal level, finding confidence and optimism.

Besides a wealth of experience, the winner will receive cash prizes, luxury jewelry and an invitation to become Lai Hing Group’s spokesperson and lifetime VIP member. The title-holder of the Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant will represent East USA to participate in the “Miss China International” competition in Hong Kong, hosted by TVB HK.
