Let it Shine

Don’t get me wrong, not everything in a space needs to be shiny. Otherwise, it can look tacky and too overpowering. That’s the last thing you want! You have to mix metals with something calm to counteract and compliment the space. Metallic wallpaper is a great choice as a focal point, it adds light and a touch of glamour to the room. Shiny chrome finish chandeliers have a dramatic look and the reflection can be captivating. Another option are copper finish pendants that can add an art deco look. Both can fill your home with elegance and sophistication.

Add Sheepskin or Faux Fur Throws

It’s fluffy, it’s furry and it’s fun! Sheepskin or faux fur throws are an ideal accent for any decor style. They are an easy way to give that visually glam and cozy feeling by their softness and rich texture. It can make a room instantly look luxurious and welcoming. It also looks great when they are layered with existing pillows and blankets. Double them up for twice the effect by overlapping them with one on the floor and the other on the sofa.

Clever Use of Intense Color

A lot can go wrong when attempting to use dark colors in your home, even with the best intentions. “The more the merrier” does not apply when it comes to mixing intense colors. I like to pick one bold color as a focal point for the largest surface then pick a few colors to compliment. The explosion of intense colors is very seductive and it’s a great way to add a sense of class while still being bold and interesting.

Mix of Mirrors and Your Favorite Artwork

Make a dramatic statement! Mirrors bring light and depth into a room. I suggest mixing them with your favorite artwork or framed photos in multiple sizes and gather them all on one wall. It will instantly give a luxurious feel and special effects to the space. Arranging the pieces on the wall can be stressful but it doesn’t have to be. You can prearrange them on the floor then mark the four corners on the wall for the edges of the frames and work towards filling the space in the middle. Have fun with them!

Change up Cushions and Window Treatments

It seems small but the impact is bigger than you think. Think Egyptian cotton, velvet cushions and leather textured cushions. They can be faux leather or faux fur. Nowadays, these kind of textures can easily be found in many local discount stores. You can carefully put together a matching color scheme of pillows in different sizes. Curtains, draperies and blinds are something many people overlook. Expensive looking window coverings can be pricey but you can buy your own fabric and sew it yourself or find a tailor within your budget.
