Beauty Tips for Spring
This year’s spring trends still include the traditional spring elements, but with a slight edge! Some of the makeup trends gracing the runways of fashion week all over the world included washes of pastel shadows on the lid and drawn-in / penciled triangles on the outer and inner corners of the eyes. Our resident expert, Everlyn Ho, gives her Asian Fusion fans a couple of makeup trends that we can try out in the coming months.
Raw and natural look
This spring is dominated by the raw and barefaced beauty look, this little or almost no makeup look has created quite a stir and has made an appearance in many fashion shows. To get the flawless, well-conditioned natural look, just make use of concealers, lip blams, eye creams and brow gels. Stay away from dark eye shadows and bright blushes. Less is always more.
This season eyeliner has gone graphic! Thick bold lines, angular shapes, straight slicks and lines extending outside the corners of the eye are hot to play with. The secret to get this look is to have a smudge-free and long-lasting, jet black eyeliner. Experiment with gel based ones and liquid liners. White liners and blue liners too were visible on the ramps, a thick line highlighting the upper and lower lash lines.
Matte lip colors
Bright, bold lips like orange, red and neons are making waves this season. Bright orange is particular favourite on the ramps, make this look work by dressing up subtile, light shades and keeping your face makeup to minimum.
Purple/Blue Eye Shadow
Eye shadows that brighten up your face are in this season. Lilac, lavender, purple, blue and pastel hues seem to rule. A wash of shadow in these hues has replaced the smoky eye look. To get this look, opt for peaches and other pastel shades. Make sure the amount of eye shadow you apply is not too heavy. A light, blurred effect is more adorable.
