If you guys are anything like Trevor Franklin and a majority of the population, keeping weight off during the fall and winter months can be a struggle. We wear more clothes, usually spend more time inside and in front of televisions, and more holidays and family time. All these can lead to an increase in caloric intake daily and unwanted winter pounds! Here’s a few tips that can be helpful to fight off that holiday weight.

Don’t buy into all the sugary festive treats—— try to create your own recipes or find a balance. Moderation is key when it comes to nutrition. The last thing we should do is completely cut out things that we enjoy. So find a balance! Sure, eat a sugary snack that you love. However, at the same time try to find a way to load up your plate with dense greens and lean proteins.

Stay active- it’s no secret working out is more challenging as it gets colder seeing as outside is no longer an option. If you lack motivation to write your own programs in a gym setting, try out a class! It’s a great way to get the body moving and maximize your time with caloric burn. Some of Trevor’s fave classes include Orangetheory Fitness and rumble!

Tracking food and movement- it’s no secret that failing to plan is planning to fail. So keep track of things! It doesn’t have to be a 24/7 thing that consumes you, but apps like myfitness pal and all brands of smart watches that track caloric burn can be a huge help in holding yourself accountable and giving us tools for success.
