HENNESSY X.O & OPENING CEREMONY ANNOUNCE
EAST MEETS WEST INSPIRED PARTNERSHIP
Fashion, Wanderlust & Mixology Evoke Encounter of Two Cultures, Two Traditions & Savoir-Faire
By Asian Fusion Editorial Team
Hennessy, the world’s best-selling Cognac, is proud to announce a first-ever collaboration with fashion house Opening Ceremony to celebrate an encounter of two cultures – “East Meets West” – with an X.O-inspired limited-edition collector’s piece that blends nuances of Eastern & Western cultures. Available now, the Hennessy X.O “East Meets West” Travel Bag by Opening Ceremony is inspired by OC co-founders’ Carol Lim & Humberto Leon’s heritage & world travels, with an aesthetic that blends tradition and heritage with modern elements. The stunning design perfectly holds the iconic shape of the Hennessy X.O bottle – the ultimate gift this holiday season.
Hennessy X.O is the world’s original X.O Cognac that established the category back in 1870. The blending of East and West has played an important role in the brand’s long-standing legacy & cultural heritage for almost as long. The first shipment arrived in China in 1872, making it one of the first global markets to embrace X.O, where the refined golden-hued blend was dubbed the “Golden Elixir.” Today, China remains among the largest and most important markets for Hennessy’s prestige portfolio, particularly Hennessy’s X.O and Paradis Imperial blends.
“The collaboration with Hennessy was born from a shared passion for bringing together and celebrating different cultures. For this design, we wanted to explore and honor our heritage by drawing inspiration from family traditions, our world travels, and the blending of our Eastern and Western backgrounds,” says Opening Ceremony co-owner, Humberto Leon. “The bold, rich flavor of X.O reminds us of family celebrations and toasts to success and good fortune, so to capture that spirit, we created a modern, luxurious travel bag in vibrant gold, a color that represents prosperity in Asian culture.”
Initially inspired by a trip to Hong Kong, Opening Ceremony founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon founded the fashion retail store in New York City as a place to share their love for exploration and have long championed the encounter of different cultures. Fittingly, the duo’s iconic name draws inspiration from the Olympic tradition that represents the coming together of cultures.
This shared passion inspired the creation of Hennessy’s X.O East Meets West, a new cocktail kit exclusively available through premiere cocktail delivery service, Cocktail Courier. In a nod to Lim & Leon’s Hong Kong travels, the signature cocktail marks the ultimate expression of ‘East Meets West’”: traditional Chinese tea service meets the modernity of Western mixology with a custom ice mold, offering a contemporary way to enjoy the bold rich flavors of X.O this holiday season.
“Originally created for the personal enjoyment of family and friends, Hennessy X.O is an elegant and complex expression reserved for special occasions, making it the perfect gift this holiday season,” says Nicolas Streff, Brand Director, Hennessy Prestige. “And through the lens of our partnership, X.O continues to champion gatherings among loved ones with a limited-edition cocktail kit, an unexpected celebration of the East Meets West ethos in the form of a multi-faceted sensorial taste experience.”
Available starting December 3rd, the Hennessy X.O East Meets West Inspired by Opening Ceremony Cocktail Kit ($204) includes a step-by-step guide and ingredients – including a 750ml bottle of Hennessy X.O – to make eight inspired cocktails. The first 5 people who visit CocktailCourier.com will receive their very own limited-edition X.O East Meets West Travel Bag by Opening Ceremony.
