Although summer in the city has been a scorcher so far this year, and the season doesn’t officially end until late September, there are plenty of things to enjoy and do outdoors. Around the city in all five boroughs, everyone can find something to do.
Here are a few choice picks:
1) Central Park once again offers the grand tradition of Shakespeare in the Park. Don’t forget to get in line for tickets before 1PM on the day of the show. Or cool off while you rent a row boat around the lake (if you don’t feel like rowing, gondola rides are also available).
2) Bryant Park is offering free chess, knitting, petanque, ping pong, tai chi, and yoga through the end of September and October. Take advantage of being outdoors.
3) Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx is offering EcoCraft classes through August 24.
4) The Hockey Rink in Queens is offering Dancing Under the Stars through September 22.
5)Enjoy free yoga at The Plaza @ 66th St in Manhattan through September 22.
Take a NYC Discovery Walking Tour by calling (212) 465-3331 for reservations and meeting places. Some of the tours offered through December are Revolutionary and Civil War Manhattan, Sex and the City Tavern Tour, Beatles and John Lennon Tour, Gotham City Ghost Tour, and a variety of tasting tours. Prices vary with the type of tour.
Find an NYC Green Market in your neighborhood and try a new fruit or vegetable.
