Matee Rakvit gained a lot of very good experience from taking pictures of actors, actresses, singers, and celebrities in Thailand. He found his eagerness to learn was seemingly unlimited,so he decided to come to New York City to study further in the area of fashion photography.
Matee Rakvit has been in New York City for about a year. He is a part time student at The International Center of Photography and The School of Visual Arts, is studying fashion photography and is a full time ESL student.
In a highly competitive city such as New York, he tried to work as a photographer during the current challenging economic situation. He began to build his portfolio for fashion photography by collaborating with some make-up artists and stylists in order to build his portfolio, as well as connections. To live in the big city and pay for his tuition, he would often do fashion shoots, beauty shoots, head shots, wedding photography, and restaurant profiles such as Kurve and Sabay Thai Restaurant. Matee has said, “Photography is not only my career, but it’s a part of my life, and I’m very excited every time I’m taking pictures.” Because of his connections, he was able to shoot the cover of the Summer Thai Issue for Asian Fusion magazine. This is his first publication in New York City, to which Matee says: “I was very excited to get a chance to shoot for the cover. Thank you very much. With special thanks to Fon, Yuti, Pat, and Rick.”
