Belmont Racetrack & Jones Beach

So we kicked day 2 off visiting Belmont racetrack. For those of you who don’t bet on the ponies, it’s the largest thoroughbred racetrack in the northeast. It housed the ever-popular Belmont stakes just under a month ago. It’s also home to the Triple Crown winner, Secretariat.
Today we were given an inside tour of the facilities where we got to see the stables these great athletes prepare in just before and after the races. I have been to the track many a times before but never got a chance to get this in depth of a look. The Executive Director of the “I Love NY” tourism bureau, Gavin Landry, greeted us at the track and gave us a warm welcome and some insight into what we can expect for the rest of the journey. We will be visiting Hudson Valley, Albany, Syracuse, Niagara Falls just name a few.
Funnily enough, we got to watch one of the races. And for those of you who know, the horses that compete in each race are described as numbers on the betting screens. So like the horses, the contestants each picked their number to win, and if the outcome of the race was any prediction of the pageant, then contestant number 3 (Jiaqi Xu) may be our next queen, but you will have to wait until August 16 to find out.
After the races, we headed to Jones Beach for a relaxing day in the sun and to shoot a music video. It was sizzling and I am not talking about the weather…Let’s see what tomorrow brings…
