Day 6 – Thousand Islands

The day started off with a 4.5-hour journey to our destination. I guarantee you that the drive was well worth the trip. We arrived at the Thousand Islands in Alexandria Bay, NY. I did not know places like this existed in New York State. The Thousand Islands (yes, also the origin of the popular salad dressing) consist of ~1800 islands that border NY and Canada.
These islands are picture perfect. The girls and crew were treated to a boat ride to Boldt Castle, which is a quick 7-minute ferry from our arrival point. The castle itself sits on Heart Island and is one of the more popular attractions of the Thousand Islands. Don’t take my word for it, have a look at some of the beautiful pictures I was able to capture here.
Our next destination was another 2 hours away, so we pretty much felt like we spent much of the day on the bus. Tomorrow we are headed to the Herkimer Diamond Mines. I am hoping I can find a big rock to bring home to the Mrs. So until tomorrow everyone!
