Popular Hong Kong Singer Crystal Cheung to Celebrate Lunar New Year
with Performance at Empire City Casino
Year of the Dog Festivities take place on Sunday, February 25 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm on the Casino floor & Entertainment Lounge with Dragons and Dancing across the Property
(Yonkers, NY) – To ring in the Year of the Dog, Cantopop sensation and former member of the hit girl group HOTCHA, Crystal Cheung, will share her solo musical talents for the first time in New York during the Lunar New Year celebration at Empire City Casino, the premier entertainment destination in the northeast. Taking place on Sunday, February 25th in the casino’s Entertainment Lounge, the free event will be the ultimate celebration of the Lunar New Year, complete with Lion Dancers and a lucky red envelope giveaway.
All bets are on red as Empire City rolls out the lucky red carpet, not only for Empire Club Members and guests but also for Cheung, whose last New York debut was with the New York Film Academy where she trained in acting after launching her career singing in Hong Kong. Cheung will lead Empire City Casino’s Lunar New Year Festival and welcome the Year of the Dog with Lion Dancers parading on the casino floor past the IGT Wheel of Fortune Triple Stars® slot machine, which continues to grow, recently surpassing $2.7-million. The lucky winner of the jackpot would break the record for highest jackpot won at any of New York State’s regulated casinos.
Cheung will serenade the crowd with her variety of Chinese pop songs in both Cantonese and Mandarin, as well as English. Additionally, for the first time ever, she will perform a special acoustic collaboration with singer-songwriter, Lei Han, who came in fifth in the 2017 Chinese American Supernova Singing Contest. The Lunar New Year Festival will kick off with opening act Chason Che, who placed second in the 2016 Chinese American Supernova Singing Contest.
Cheung is excited to return to the Big (Red) Apple where she launched her acting career, especially since she has a new acting venture on the horizon. Cheung will be starring in an upcoming FOX Networks Group Asia over-the-top (OTT) video platform on FOX+ this spring in the five-part crime thriller Stained.
Lunar New Year performances begin at 2:00 pm, but guests are encouraged to arrive early to try their luck on any of Empire City’s 5,300 games including electronic baccarat, roulette, and sic bo. The first 500 Empire Club Members to visit a Promotions Desk during the Lunar New Year Festival will receive a lucky red envelope. Visitors can join the free membership within minutes at any Promotions Desk in the casino.
Empire City Casino, Manhattan’s closest casino, is just a short drive from the George Washington Bridge and is easily accessible via Metro North, Bus, Shuttle Bus and more, including line runs from Flushing and Chinatown (exact point-to-point directions provided here).
