The largest cycling event on the East Coast—2019 Bike Expo New York—has its grand opening on May 3rd in Manhattan, New York City. To promote the amazing Bike Tours in Taiwan and annual international cycling event—Taiwan Cycling Festival, Taiwan Tourism Bureau participates in the Expo to present this “Island full of Surprises” to all of the cycling lovers in North America and international tourists.
Bike Expo New York, which is the largest bike exhibition on North America’s East Coast, takes place on May 3rd and 4th at Pier 36 Basketball City. Taiwan Tourism Bureau New York Office’s booths this year not only provide the information about cycling tours in Taiwan, but also host stamp collecting game for attendees to win prizes. There is a photo booth where people can have a photo taken as a souvenir from Taiwan. Taiwanese airlines, China Airlines and EVA Air, also join the event.
Ambassador Lily Li-wen Hsu, director-general of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York, says, “Taiwan has established a great cycling route system with routes for cyclists with different levels of experience, which provides various types of cycling experience for everyone. The well-developed system is selected by Bicycling as the Cycling Capital in Asia. The year 2019 is being promoted as ‘the travel year’ between Taiwan and the US by the two sides. It is our hope that people in both countries can understand each other more via tourism, further strengthening the relationship between our two countries.”
Claire Chia-Szu Wen, director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau New York Office, says, “The environment of Taiwan makes it a perfect place for cycling. From leisure to professional, all types of riders can find a suitable cycling activity in Taiwan. This year, Taiwan Tourism Bureau is promoting ‘Small Town,’ and biking is an amazing way to explore Taiwan as a local and experience the unique and authentic culture of different small towns.”
