The King of Joseon’, a night of Korea’s royal costume and cuisine, took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on October 3rd, 2011.
Highlighting Korea’s royal costume and cuisine from the era of King of Joseon, the works of one of Korea’s top designers, Hye-soon Kim was showcased and traditional Korean cuisine was served to those present. The Great Hall and the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY was transformed into a Korean Royal Court. A traditional dance was performed by the National Company for Traditional Dance. Bok-ryeo Han, Korea’s “human treasure” a and top chef, presented the royal cuisines in a special demonstration.
“The King of Joseon in New York” is beingheld in support and awareness of UN’s Global Strategy for Women’s & Children’s Health.
