The Rose House

By Ching Yu Lin

It’s 11am, and we’re standing in front of the Rose House. The story of Rose House began in 1990. Robert Huang, the founder of Rose House, always has had great inclinations to roses, English afternoon tea, pottery and the art of the rose. Hence, Rose House was born. Mr. Huang himself is also an artist widely celebrated for his rose paintings. Today, Mr. Huang’s paintings enjoy a huge amount of success in international art auctions and are highly appreciated by collectors in more than 80 countries. He constantly keeps his visions and dreams alive by creating artistic works and promoting afternoon tea. To date, Mr. Huang’s Rose House is not only a quintessential representation of art and afternoon tea, but also the biggest chain of Tea & Art in Taiwan.

Rose House serves over 50 varieties of tea. Sitting down for tea with Mr. Gu, General Manager of Rose House, he told us how the teas are imported from England and are some of the same teas served by the Royal family.

Mr. Gu said Rose House is the perfect place for a small business meeting, birthday parties, or just getting together and catching up with friends. On the 21st of every month, Mr. Gu told us Rose House celebrates it’s opening day anniversary by giving every female guest a rose. All this seems natural, since Rose House’s motto is “Send a Rose to Everyone’s Heart.” Of special note here is the limited edition tea cup and plate commemorating the recent wedding of Prince Andrew and Kate Middleton available exclusively at Rose House.
