What’s In This Spring?

By Sophia Hsu

Spring is upon us. We New Yorkers crave every little bit of that fresh, sunny air that we can get into our lungs. At the first sign of warm air, we try to put on flirty skirts and sandals to praise the sun even though the temperature is barely above 50 degrees F.

Turning to La Peau’s artistic director, and our resident beauty expert Everlyn Ho, Asian Fusion asks: “What can we do to prepare for Spring?”

The best way to prepare for the fresh air and sunshine is to make your skin glow with health and vibrancy. La Peau recently started offering the hottest thing to come out of Germany after Heidi Klum: the DermaLift treatment (also known as ThermaLift or Radio Frequency treatment). The DermaLift treatment is not to be confused with the face cream of radio and television commercial infamy. No, DermaLift is a facial treatment that wakes up the underly- ing layers of skin, gently warming the collagen layer and opening up the pores. Dirt comes out, and nutrients go in. Once the deeper layers of skin become receptive, nutrients and moistur- izers have a better chance of absorption.

This all natural, non-invasive, non-surgical treatment is great for transforming the skin around the face, jaw, and neck. The microcur- rent therapy helps to re-educate the muscles in the face, bringing them back to life, tighten- ing what time has loosened. Improved texture and tone can be seen even after the very first treatment, and some results last up to six months.

Traditionally, we use all manners of potions, lotions, and creams to gain the same effect, but using an oil-based moisturizer in an attempt redefine skin is simply a shield over the issue instead of treating the real issue, which is a moisture imbalance between skin and the outside world. Using a thin moisturizer can feel like you are just throwing water at the problem, barely making the epidermis moist.

After just one DermaLift treatment, your skin will feel softer, and pores seem to instantly disappear. And even though the treatment has had a short life at La Peau, it is the most requested and most sought after treatment currently at the spa. So, before Spring has sprung, head over to La Peau to get your face ready for Spring!
