Yum Yum Q – The New Family Member

By Jason Li

Go ahead. You know you want to. Open the door. Come in and escape the traffic on Queens Blvd. and the rumbling of the 7 train above your head. Come and savor the Thai dining experience that Manhattan’s Yum Yum family of restaurants has brought to Sunnyside, Queens. Located just steps away from the 46th Street station on the 7 line, Yum Yum Queens is a great place to come to meet friends and enjoy the delicious Thai food that Yum Yum has become known for. With bold red florals on the walls, a warm, dark wood bar, and their signature overhead bar lighting, Yum Yum Q wecomes you like an old friend. An ample selection of appetizers, entrees, and noodles, plus a selection of “Signature Dishes” and a prix fixe special for $13.95 make Yum Yum Q a welcome addition to Queens.

We recommend starting your meal with an appetizer of steamed mussels ($6.95): garlic, lemongrass, basil leaves, lime juice and onions come together to create a rich seafood dish with a smooth taste. If you’re dining with a group of four or more, then be sure to try the Appetizer Platter ($11.95), giving you 2 pieces each of 5 different bites: dumplings, spring rolls, curry puffs, chicken satae, and Thai-fried shrimp. For the entree, first check out the “Signature Dishes”. We had the Red Snapper Mango: a crispy fried filet of snapper mixed with mango, lime juice, chili and cashew nuts. A mouth-watering dish that’s both spicy and flavorful. Something a little different but equally as delicious, was the Spaghetti Kee Mao with Seafood: spaghetti with broccoli, onions, bell peppers, basil and egg, stir-fried in their special house basil and chili sauce. Top off your meal with a couple of scoops of Yum Yum’s delicious green tea ice cream.

Yum Yum Q is located at 43-01 Queens Blvd. Corner of 43 st in Sunnyside, Queens. 1718 383 5040. It’s spacious (seats up to 45), yet intimate. It’s friendly, and definitely delicious. C’mon in for some great Thai food in Queens!
